Helping Advocates Fight Cancer Online
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network was not mobile responsive or donor focused, and its complex navigation made it difficult for volunteers to find the information they needed to advocate for cancer prevention, research, and treatment. Rad guided ACS CAN through a thorough audience analysis and discovery phase that contributed directly to the delivery of a fresh, modern architecture and design for their main website, as well as a highly customized activity tracker for volunteers.
- State pages showcasing local campaigns – As the nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, ACS CAN has a presence in all 50 states, where staff and volunteers run campaigns on a local, state, and national level. They needed the ability to easily post actions, events, and updates about these campaigns quickly and easily. This involved Rad setting up custom workflows and configuring taxonomies to organize content around topic areas.
- Improved focus on philanthropy – The new site increases the prominence of donation asks, supported by opportunities to integrate clear statements to show what donor dollars have helped accomplish.
- More compelling, personal content – The site includes more imagery in the design, as well as spaces to feature volunteers and highlight accomplishments.
- A volunteer action tracker – In order to increase engagement with ACS CAN's 1,000+ volunteers, Rad set up an area of the site for them to login, connect with their teams, and track actions like legislator visits, media interviews, and recruitment.
